Interview with Author Elena Shelest

Author: Elena Shelest

Book in the Collection: Emma’s Three Christmas Wishes

Tell us about your characters in this story:

All Emma wishes is for Trevor Delgado to notice her at school, for her health to improve enough to be a traveling artist, and for her little brothers to leave her alone once in a while. When she meets a grumpy old man with his beard stuck in the icy ground and jumps in to the rescue, wish-making becomes a reality. Only the choices are not so simple anymore, and Emma might risk hurting those who matter the most to her, even Trevor.

Trevor never noticed Emma at school before she ran into him. Literally. Preoccupied with helping his mom with bills and doing something special for his little sister before leaving for college, girls are the last thing on his mind. A recent breakup is not a motivator either. But Emma is not like anyone he’s met before. Only when strange things start to happen, Trevor is not so sure anymore whom to trust. Maybe this girl is not who she appears to be.

Will the magic of the season help Emma and Trevor find the right way?

What made you decide to join this set? Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and I’ve always wanted to write a story around this holiday. Adding some sweet romance to it sounds like a perfect combination. And, of course, mine has to be with a pinch of magic ;).

If you had to use emojis only for your tagline, what would that look like?

🎁🤔💥😳🔥🤯💫😊

What can readers expect from this collection? Tons of holiday fun, plenty of mayhem I’d imagine, and of course happily ever afters.

Excerpt:

The man’s bushy eyebrows furrowed into a copper clump. “Do you not have any wishes?”

Just the opposite. Emma had lots of them. Most of the time, she wished for scientists to find a remedy for cancer. Thankfully, hers never returned, but other children were not as lucky. She also wished to grow taller, stronger, and be less thin, to have longer hair, to catch Trevor Delgado’s attention, to travel and paint in remote areas of the world, to be left alone by her little brothers once in a while. But overall, she wished to have more adventure in her mostly uneventful life.

“I mean... I do wish for things, but nothing you can help me with.”

The stranger grunted. “Who told you that?”
