Literary Love Savannah 2023 Attending Author Interview, Rinna Ford

Author Name (s) Rinna Ford

Genre(s) PNR, PNR RH, Fantasy, Urban Fantasy

What made/inspired you decide to be a writer? I’ve always loved telling stories and expanding my imagination. I wrote stories, fanfic, whatever I could, as a teen. I kind of fell off from doing it all; writing, reading, using my imagination; once life became more difficult. But then when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, I started reading again to escape reality. It awakened my imagination and I decided to write a story, which led me here.

What inspires your writing? My dreams, as corny as it sounds. My first story came to me in a dream, and the next morning I wrote it down. I tweaked it for almost 10 months before I started writing it. My best stories come from my dreams.

What's the first thing you remember writing, and how old were you? I honestly can’t remember the first thing I wrote, but I think I was 12 or 13 years old.

Do you need quiet or can you write anywhere? I definitely need quiet! And if it’s a LOVE scene, no one can be anywhere near me even if they’re silent.

How do you handle brain block? Oh man. I take a break, change writing locations, try a different approach. I’m working off a long brain block right now so I’m going through everything I can think of.

How do you keep the characters straight- not mixing them up? I try to give them not-so-similar names. It makes a world of difference to me as a reader and a writer so that I don’t mix them up in my head. Other than that, I have nothing. lol

If they could bring any character from any story any time period to life who would it be? Oh man, this is hard! Maybe Irrik from The Darkest Drae series by Kelly St. Clare and Raye Wagner? I love growly, alpha characters!

What is your favorite dinosaur and why? I have always loved triceratops because they are just neat. That one scene in Jurassic Park when he lays on the triceratop’s belly always makes me giddy.

For those readers who are new to you, what book should they start off with and why? Curse Marked is the first book in my complete PNR RH series, and the most popular. The storyline is unique, but also one that a lot of people could relate to in one way or another.
