What made/inspired you decide to be a writer?
I’ve always been an avid reader and found myself writing song lyrics and poetry to express my feelings. I began reading romance novels at a young age and knew I wanted to write my own stories one day.
What inspires your writing?
Everything inspires me. I’ve been inspired after hearing a line in a movie. Songs and artists are other things that inspire me a great deal.
What's the first thing you remember writing, and how old were you?
Hmm, this is a tough one. I remember writing an article about who I admire and why when I was in elementary school.
Do you need quiet or can you write anywhere?
When the mood strikes, I can write anywhere. My first two books were written at a busy restaurant/bar. Sometimes, it depends on my headspace and what’s needed for a particular scene.
How do you handle brain block?
I’ll take a break to watch a movie or show. Maybe I’ll take the weekend to re-energize myself by reading books by some of my favorite authors. Also, if I have another story on the back burner, I’ll sometimes go to that project to see if it gets my juices flowing again.
How do you keep the characters straight- not mixing them up?
I have a completed series and now a duet that required me to maintain the accuracy of information and details from the previous books. I re-read earlier books to make sure the information is straight in my head and on the page.
If they could bring any character from any story any time period to life who would it be?
I’ll pick a hero from one of my books since I love them so much even though it’ll be tough to choose only one. I’ll go with Rafe Tapiro. He’ll always be a favorite of mine because he was my first. And he has such a sweet and caring soul. Plus, he’s a musician with long hair, do I need to say more?
What is your favorite dinosaur and why?
Barney! I grew up watching his show and he taught me a lot about myself and the world.
For those readers who are new to you, what book should they start off with and why?
This question gets me every time. If you like an angsty read, then I’d suggest Touch Me Softly (Reawakening Series, Book 1). If you like more heat, All The Pleasure (All The Ways, #1) is the place to start.
