Interview with Vella Author, Nala Wright

Tell us about you as a writer: I write on the light side of Urban Fiction. My Vella is a soap opera in this style. I used to do something similar on Facebook but now I can get paid for what I was doing for free, so I thought…why not?

  • Why Vella? I can build on a story one small section at a time instead of putting out a complete work all at once.

  • Tell us about your Vella story (stories): To Live and Die in the Bay is a soap opera about a group of people from the Bay Area and how they relate to each other. It is primarily told from the point of view of a group of friends who made up a creative collective in high school and kept it going in their adult lives. There is a writer, an actress, an artist, a dancer, a singer, and a photographer, who figured out how to put a show together. Now, they put on these shows for the community for their creative outlet, but they must also navigate their daily lives.
