Empty Nest, Holidays, and a Fruit Dip Recipe by Author Sophie Bartow

Hey there. My name is Sophie Bartow. I am a married mother of four who has spent the last 30+ years as a speech-language pathologist, working with adult post-stroke patients. For the first time in 27 years, my husband and I are empty nesters. Our oldest son lives in Virginia, where he is finishing his Ph.D. Our youngest son is getting his MFA in NYC. And our twin daughters are sophomores at Florida State.

With the holidays upon us, things down here in S. Florida gets a bit wild. And while I’m not yet ready for the influx of snowbirds, it will be nice to have all 4 of the kids home at the same time for a few weeks. But boy, does my grocery bill go up! Can you relate?

I write small-town books that have romance, a touch of mystery and are set in the fictional town of Swan Harbor, Maine. I want my characters to be smart, funny, lovable, and complex. And my town to be a place where the mysteries might be cozy or chaotic, but where there’s always a happy ending. In other words, a place where we can escape and fall in love.

I’d like to thank Cara for the opportunity to share a bit about me and my series. I’d also like to take a moment to share one of my favorite recipes.

Fruit Dip

1 tub of strawberry cream cheese

1 jar of marshmallow fluff

Strawberries.

Directions: Mix the strawberry cream cheese and the marshmallow fluff until creamy. Dip strawberries (bananas work well too) in and enjoy!
